Past Productions was founded in July 2011 by Robert J. Southworth serving schools in the North-West of England. Past Productions offers historical theatre productions that are tailored to suit the KS1 and KS2 syllabus. We work hard obtaining feedback from teachers and students alike to make sure that our productions are always providing the best educational value possible. From our research we recognised a niche for history. Having expertise in T.I.E. in the UK and Europe we sought to offer schools something that we were passionate about, and also something that has not really been targeted for school theatre: history.

As well as offering high-quality professional productions to schools Past Productions recognises the need to offer that little bit more to our clients. We regularly compile and review all the materials that accompany our shows to make sure that they are of the highest standard. We also offer resources that can be used independently by teachers and students to aid teaching and learning on specific historical subjects. These include:

• Teaching Worksheets for Teachers
• Pre-Show and post-show workbooks
• Extra Stories to engage the children
• History of the Theatre at the specific time

All of these documents are available free to schools upon booking a show. Here at Past Productions we want to continue to build upon this and eventually offer a whole host of online information and interactivity that can engage children in their learning and help them to engage and take an interest in history. We invest heavily in our productions to keep them as high-quality as possible. We also make sure that our actors are fairly paid and have good working conditions.

Robert has spent his life as an actor and musician. Having had a varied career spanning national and European tours he decided to add another passion to his acting: history. Robert saw a niche in the market and wanted to put his history to good use by writing productions suitable for the National Curriculum. He has been performing in children's shows for over 12 years and enjoys nothing more than seeing the buzz that audiences get out of a good show. He has toured all over the World singing in places as far as Canada. He has composed for several student movies and a feature. As a songwriter he regularly performs his own music in festivals and local bars. In 2011 he was the workshop co-ordinator for Wirral's premiere 'Festival of Firsts' organising workshops for the duration of the Festival. Amassing a knowledge from the industry, he has worked for companies such as LiveNation, the BBC, White Horse Theatre, The Presenter Studio, Everyman Theatre (Liverpool), New Theatre Royal (Portsmouth), Chrysanthemum's Pantomime Society, MTV, Empire Theatre (Liverpool), Selladoor and many more! Robert has also been employed by Aberystwyth University as a freelance Composer and MD for several student productions.
